August 2024
Substance use, misuse, addiction and overdose knows no boundaries. In 2023 alone drug overdoses killed 107,543 people in the United States, according to the National Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention. The devastation cuts across people of all ages, races, genders, education and socioeconomics. It destroys the lives of those afflicted and leaves millions of families and friends in its wake.
To increase awareness, remember those lost to overdoses, acknowledge the grief of loved ones and promote efforts to prevent overdose deaths, Aug. 31 is designated as Overdose Awareness Day around the world.
